Police say a 13-year-old girl is accused of killing her mother after her phone was confiscated.

A 13-year-old girl is accused of killing her mother on Friday after her phone was taken away, according to Pennsylvania authorities.

Wilkes-Barre police responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. due to reports of an unresponsive woman.

When officers arrived, they found the 44-year-old victim suffering multiple stab wounds to her neck, back and bleeding from her head, the WU report said.

Authorities said when they first contacted Lataya Powell, she said

"I don't have my phone with me because my mom took it before our fight," she said.

While being detained, she told WU that she felt "regret, guilt, and self-loathing."

Police also found marks of an 11-year-old boy with stab wounds to the back but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Powell has been charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and tampering of evidence.

He is being charged as an adult.
