Mayank Yadav Sets New IPL 2024 Record: Fastest Delivery

NEW DELHI: KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), lauded the rapid pace of Mayank Yadav after their team clinched consecutive wins in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Following a dazzling performance that led to a 28-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday, Rahul extolled Mayank Yadav for his searing pace that posed a significant challenge to the opposing batsmen.

Reflecting on Yadav’s remarkable performance, Rahul humorously commented that he’d rather observe the 21-year-old’s bowling skills from the safety of standing 20 yards behind the stumps than confront him with a bat.

“Yeah, one ball struck me quite hard, but I’m thrilled to see Mayank’s bowling performance in the recent games. He’s been waiting quietly and patiently in the dugout for two seasons, and unfortunately, he missed out last year due to an injury. However, he’s been in Mumbai with the physiotherapists, working diligently. He realizes that consistently bowling at 155 is challenging, especially at a young age, which has brought a few injuries. His professionalism in taking care of his body is admirable, and it’s wonderful to see his excellent temperament. I enjoy watching him bowl from about 20 yards behind the stumps; that’s where I prefer to be when he’s bowling,” stated the LSG captain.

Yadav’s blistering speed, reaching 156.7 kph, overwhelmed RCB’s batting order, securing key dismissals including Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green.

Mayank Yadav’s exceptional performance has catapulted him into the top five wicket-takers’ leaderboard in this IPL season. His pivotal role in two back-to-back matches has been crucial in swinging the momentum towards LSG, with his dynamic pace emerging as a pivotal factor.
